Marchiori & Barraud Malbec
Description: There's more obvious oak in the 2013 Cuartel Dos Malbec, a wine sourced from a specific plot - cuartel 2 - in the Marchiori vineyard at 990 meters altitude in Perdriel, LujŠn de Cuyo. The wine fermented in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in new French barriques for 18 months. As I mentioned, you feel the oak, but it's not excessive, even though 18 monthsin new wood sounds like too much. It shows a high degree of ripeness and the fruit is black rather than red with some earthy notes and plenty of spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with what seems like to-be-integrated acidity. It still has tannins to be resolved, and ends quite dry, so one or two years in bottle should do it good.
