| Description: |
Smith-Madrone grows their Chardonnay at the top of Spring Mountain, 1,900 feet above the Valley floor. The elevation, the steep slope and the red volcanic soil result in a distinctive wine with less tropical fruit and more pear, apple and citrus aromas. Because the wine is entirely barrel fermented, it has a spicy character and a soft, rich mid-palate. But there is still plenty of acidity to keep it from becoming cloying. |
