Whereas one might have, a few years ago, expected a pinched, lean bottling, this one is ripe, rich, smooth, supple and outgoing, yet it is also a very mannerly wine without resorting to the high ripeness or pushy tannins that mar many of the vintage. Its mix of cherries and cassis is buttressed by creamy, slightly toasty oak, and the wine's late-arriving tannins give it the backbone to age well for the next half decade at a minimum. -91 points, Steven Tanzer |
