14 Bollinger La Grande Annee
The 2014 La Grande Année is stunning. In fact, it is one of the best recent editions I can remember tasting. What comes through most is the wine’s sizzling energy and tension, qualities that aren’t often associated with Bollinger, where the Champagnes tend to show more breadth and volume. In 2014, readers will find a Grande Année built on linear intensity and drive. The 2014 is a blend taken from 19 villages, 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay instead of the more typical 70/30 mix. For the second time in two decades (the first was 2007), Verzenay takes the lead in the Pinots over Aÿ, more or less an inverse from the norm. Verzenay, a north-facing village in the Montagne de Reims that saw less rain than Aÿ and most of the Vallée de la Marne, yields Pinots of energy more than volume. That, married with Chardonnays mostly from the Côtes des Blancs (predominantly Chouilly, Vertus, Oiry and Cramant), results in a truly magical Grande Année that will delight Champagne fans for several decades. I can’t recommend the 2014 highly enough. It’s a total knock-out. 98pts from Vinous(available: 6)

Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve
A deep golden robe. Delicate vivacious and long-lasting bubbles are the result of more than 36 months of ageing in chalk cellars. With 40% of reserve wines (the maximum possible amount), the blend offers a complex, voluptuous nose with notes of freshly baked brioche and the richness of roasted coffee beans. A precise selection of wines, purposely limited to 60 crus, ensures the Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve a deliciously sophisticated harmony. An opulent selection of ripe, sun-drenched fruits such as mango, apricot, and greengage plum combines with dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The texture is reminiscent of a crisp layer of nougatine on a velvety cream pastry filled with plump red plums and ripe cherries. The reserve wines, some dating back ten years give the wine lushness. The depth of the thousand-year-old chalk quarries where the wine matures offer a touch of praline along with notes of amber and vanilla. 94pts from James Suckling(available: 5)

Charles Heidsieck Rose Reserve
To the Nose A base of 20% of reserve wines, white and red, give this rose blend a subtle, yet complex nose. The initial fragrances from the 5-6% of elegant red wines are redolent of home-made strawberry jam mixed with the fruitiness of blood peach. A meticulous selection of crus gives the Charles Heidsieck Rose Reserve the rich warm notes of gingerbread and cinnamon. On the Palate The deep powerful mouthfeel - the result of ageing in thousand-year old cellars - offers a burst of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry nestled in velvety whipped cream.(available: 4)

12 Charles Heidsieck Vintage Brut
Very lemony (blossoms, zest and candied peel), with some red-berry and fresh tobacco-leaf notes. Impressive richness and concentration, the creaminess from lees beautifully matched by the fine mousse and mineral freshness. The latter also powers the structured and saline finish that makes a serious statement. A blend of 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay, disgorged in 2020. Drink or hold. 95pts from James Suckling(available: 1)

This focused rosé Champagne offers a mousse with the texture of raw silk, which swathes the firm frame in layers of roasted hazelnut, baked peach, toasted brioche and crème de cassis flavors, with a rich and smoky underpinning and accents of candied kumquat, espresso and ground ginger and cumin that expand on the finish. Laurent-Perrier Cuvee Rose
The NV Champagne La Cuvée Brut Rosé is entirely Pinot Noir from 10 crus in the Montagne de Reims. It is forward in the glass with ripe currants, fresh herbs, and smoky perfume. This continues to the palate, with notes of ripe wild raspberry and tangerine, and it has a medium to full-bodied texture that is pure and lightly savory on the finish. Fantastically paired with beef tartar and other richer raw preparations, this is a wonderful and food-friendly expression. 92pts from Jeb Dunnuck(available: 4)

15 Louis Roederer Brut Rose
The 2015 Brut Vintage Rosé is generous and demonstrative, bursting with aromas of peach, orange and pear mingled with hints of red berries, fresh bread and ginger. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, it's rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into an ample, fleshy core that's girdled by bright acids and enlivened by a pillowy mousse. Long and expansive, it's more generous and gourmand than its racier 2014 predecessor, but just as good. 94pts from Robert Parker(available: 3)

An elegant golden straw yellow with amber highlights. Its aromas are radiant, revealing bright yellow-fleshed fruits (apple, pear, yellow peach), honey, floral nuances (lime blossom) and elegant blond notes (brioche and fresh nuts). Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial
Textbook from the mousse onward, this salmon-hued blend of primarily Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with a smaller percentage of Chardonnay emits aromas of raspberry and yeastiness that make room for flashes of apricot, almond, and floral notes; the palate, meanwhile, sits in the center of the Venn diagram linking consummate freshness to red-berry fruitiness to elegance, framed by the slightest of tannins. 93pts from The Somm Journal(available: 3)

08 Nicolas Feuillatte Palmes d'Or Grand Cuvee
This prestige Champagne is composed of upfront, permeating flavors of redcurrant and citrus fruits. A second wave of Pinot Noir offers freshness and a streak of minerality are underpinned by a distinctive chalk signature and acutely delicate smoky finish. This harmonious combination is accentuated with the tropical-style Chardonnays from Montgueux. Golden and translucent with striking amber tones. Wonderfully rich, the bubbles form a lovely stream of effervescence resembling fine pearls. Aromas of fresh white fruits, dried almonds and apricots, and a slight hint of spice. This linear, well-balanced vintage is built for the future. On the palate, the 2008 Palmes d’Or Brut offers notes of red fruit and citrus. The Chardonnay from Montgueux dominating the blend express tropical, fleshy characteristics. This Champagne lingers delivering notes of dried flowers and the gentle touch of gossamer bubbles, while elegantly structured and linear on the finish. 97pts from Decanter(available: 3)

Taittinger Brut Prestige Rose Magnum (1.5L)
Blended from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, this is a succulently fruity, supple and aromatic Champagne with fine bubbles and a crisp, refreshing finish of extended length. Taittinger Cuvée Prestige Rosé is intense cherry-pink in color with extremely fine, persistent pinpoint bubbles rising in delicate strands to the surface of the wine. Its classic, aromatic Pinot fragrance of red raspberries and strawberries is offset by elegant, subtle floral and earth nuances. On the palate, the ripe, full berry flavors are vibrant yet refined, delicately balanced by a fresh acidity which carries into a crisp, refreshing finish of persistent length.(available: 2)

12 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rose
Grace Kelly comes to mind: For all its regal bearing, this famed wine's essence is one of intrigue. In the 2012 vin- tage, a blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardon- nay, almost demure scents of melon, pink blossoms (sweet pea, peony), and brioche are met by bolder notes of salinity and slight tar. On the sculptural, chiseled palate, mean- while, a singular mix of green strawberry, gooseberry, and cranberry underscored by tangy acidity comes to mingle with a hint of mushroom, fines herbes, and smoke on the chalk-dusted finish. In a word: arresting. 98pts from the Tasting Panel(available: 3)
