06 Dr. Loosen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese 375ml
Loosen and Schug bottled no 2006 Spatlese from this site, but their 2006 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese pits creamy apple and vanilla typical of the site against an attractively invigorating apple skin tartness, fresh lemony acidity, and wet stone. Strangely, though, this really blurs in the back end, lacking the purity or length to be completely convincing. It might be a phase in the wine’s evolution. -Wine Advocate

04 Fred Prinz Hallgartener Jungfer Riesling Kabinett
The 2004 Hallgartener Jungfer Riesling Kabinett – harvested early from the original core site, the highest in elevation and most quarzitic portion of the present day Jungfer – displays lovely delicacy and minerality. The nose is of lemon, pear and red currant. The citrus is delightfully juicy and engaging and the pit fruit and chalk mineral character seem to waft over the palate. The 2004 vintage seems to accentuate the almost Mosel-like virtues of Jungfer: brightness, florality and minerality. The wine’s 60 grams of sugar are barely in evidence as it finishes fine, bright and lip-smackingly salty. -88pts -Robert Parker

Plump in the mouth but backed by strong acidity, this spätlese offers impressive value. Pineapple, green apple and citrus flavors are joined by a streak of dusty minerals that give this a drier-than-expected finish. — J.C. -90pts Wine Enthusiast
