Meritage - Merit = Superior Quality; Heritage = Tradition. In the style of bordeaux blending, comes a California wine with a \"tradition\" of \"superior quality.\" Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Cabernet Franc are just a few of the traditional grapes that go into a meritage creating a blend that can be ready to drink at its release or continue to blossom into an outstanding wine drinking experience after just a few years of cellaring. We have hand-picked the selections you see before you, as a reflection of outstanding quality and craftsmanship. Enjoy. -- Last updated 05/05/2010

05 Seghesio Omaggio Sonoma County Red Wine
Winery Notes: At the peak of their ripeness the grapes are hand-harvested. In order to increase concentration, each lot undergoes a "saigne" (a "bleed" or reduction of juice) prior to fermentation. The final Omaggio blend, typically 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Sangiovese, is made early in the aging process to allow a fuller integration of flavors. Finally, this wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels of which one-third are new.
