The Wine Spectator mentioned the marked proliferation of South African wines. "The region has sorted itself out quickly over the last few years, purifying vineyards and focusing on modern-styled wines from blue-chip varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah." In ten years we have noticed this change more locally. Spice Route, Rust En Vrede, and Fairview provide some examples of a work in progress - you can literally taste the difference!
