According to the Wine Spectator's Thomas Matthews, "One winery in Argentina is leading the charge to bring its country's wine up to world class standards," and Catena leads the way in Argentina. (Nov. 15th 1995) While Mr. Matthews wrote these words more than 10 years ago, still in 2008 these words still ring true. Check out more than 20 Argentine selections available for purchase now on our Web site! 05 Catena Malbec Mendoza
According to Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Subdued, brooding aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. A sweet, fat, pliant fruit bomb, with flavors of cherry, red plum and licorice complicated by fresh herbs. Slightly exotic in the middle palate. Fairly large-scaled wine with good finishing fruit. This rather user-friendly wine makes a very good ambassador for malbec from Argentina." (Nov/Dec 05)

06 Crios de Susana Balbo Mendoza Malbec
The wine has a beautiful reddish/purple color as most good Malbecs do. The aromas are a mix of fresh crushed cherries and toasty/smoky oak—just enough to frame the exuberant fruit. 07 Crios Susana Balbo Torrontes
"The 2007 Torrontes is about as good as this varietal gets. Super fragrant, smelling of a spring flower garden, honey, and exotic spices, from the nose one expects the wine to be sweet. On the palate, however, it is dry with a creamy texture, intense flavors, excellent acidity, and a lengthy finish. It is an ideal alternative for rich courses normally calling for Chardonnay." 90 points. -- Wine Advocate
