Madhouse Brewery
Jon Rudisil
Saturday, July 31st
3-5pm
1300 50th St. WDM
Can't get enough of locally-made whether brewed or otherwise? How about another great story this one from central Iowa in Newton? Made in the former Maytag warehouse site. The town of Newton may no longer be manufacturing quality washing machines and other home applicance but how about a really well-made Iowa beer in the Wheat and Pastime Pale Ale. The wheat is a lighter style traditionally made beer and the Pastime reminds us of more of a west coast-style IPA! Try them by joining us on Saturday 3-5pm!

Van Wijk Wine Tasting
Saturday, August 7th
1-3pm
3500 Ingersoll Avenue DM
Do you know Roger and Rebecca Van Wyk of Pleasant Hill, IA? Their story is an interesting one about their passion for wine in Iowa. Starting out with nothing more than an idealistic investment in shares of Southern Hills Winery coop in southern Iowa, the Van Wyks have experimented with making their own wine over the years. As winemaking can be a learning process as much as it is a passion, Roger and Rebecca still refer to their brand as 'Van Wijk Wine' versus calling their place just east of Des Moines as a winery. And if you may have noticed their Dutch heritage has brought their European heritage as part of their business name. Thus the wines we will sample on Saturday, August 7th at our DM store on Ingersoll are wines from Van Wijk Wine.
